The Shutterbug
You have a digital camera, right? You shoot pictures of the kids, the new house, the vacation.
It’s really neat. You can shoot all you like and never spend a dime for processing film. Add to that, you get great-looking shots that you’re anxious to share with family and friends, right?
No?
You get red-eye in close-ups, shots that are crooked, the people are too far away and you can’t see their faces, etc. You’ve tried a couple of the free photo editing programs, with varying results. You don’t want to spend a fortune for Photoshop, or spend the rest of your life learning to use it’s complicated features. I have been using Photoshop since it was released, and I am still learning the program! What is a budding Ansel Adams to do?
Enter Picasa 2.
It’s a free program you can download from http://google.picasa.com/ and it will solve most of your poor picture problems, simply and easily. This is one of the coolest programs ever, and it is offered free from Google. After you download and install Picasa2, it will scan your entire hard drive for images, and put them in separate folders, showing you thumbnail images of each one. You will undoubtedly find many pictures that were buried deep in your computer that you had forgotten about!
Red-eye in a close-up? No problem. Just bring the image up in Picasa2 and select the Red-Eye option. Washed-out image? No problem. Just select the Auto-Contrast option. Want to crop or straighten a photo? There are controls for that as well. You can even make a slide show to e-mail to friends and relatives. All of this from a free program.
So drag that digital camera out of the closet, charge the battery, and start shooting! With your natural creative talent and Picasa2, you will be taking great-looking photographs in no time.
